Symblages

What is a symblage, usually called an assemblage?

An assemblage is a recognized form of art in which 3-D items are employed.  This differentiates it from a collage which uses 2-D materials.  When I first was apprised of the name for this art type, I misheard 'assemblage' as 'symblage'.  Although later I realized the misunderstanding, I decided to continue to call my works "symblages" because they are highly symbolic.  For me, it was a wonderful case of serendipity.
